Grizzly Season is almost here!!
Well folks, it's the middle of August and you know what that means.......only 2 more weeks until our infamous Grizzly Bear Expeditions start up!! Believe us, we're just as excited as you!
Our Grizzly Expedition consists of a scenic 2hr boat ride up Bute Inlet where we dock the boat and hop on land. From here we are greeted by members of the Homalco First Nations band and they will take us, via minibus, to the various viewing platforms. The platforms are situated along the Orford River, prime Grizzly bear territory!! They offer a 360 degree view of the bears' environment and we can watch these beautiful animals hunt, roam, and swim from up above. This is not a caged area; this is the true wilderness and we'll be right in the middle of it. We'll spend 3 hours with the Grizzlies, followed by a late lunch on the 2hr ride back to Campbell River. If we're lucky, we might spot some marine wildlife along the way!
Our knowledgeable and fun-loving Australian Head Naturalist, Mark Evans, will accompany the tours and provide mountains of information on the Grizzlies and their habitat. It's worth coming out just to learn about these animals! Our talented and enthusiastic captains: Joel Bridle, Warren Schuh, and Geord Dunstan, will be in charge of your exciting voyage to and from the Orford River. They'll get you there safe and sound, while providing some of their own knowledge and tales on the water. Everyone will be sure to keep you entertained and up to speed on the local surroundings. Once on the platforms we tend to hang back and let you experience the thrill of nature in peace and quiet. Make sure you have those cameras and video cameras!!
September and October are booking up very quickly for this popular tour; we have one scheduled every single day! If you would like to inquire or make a booking, please call us toll free at 1-866-501-ORCA (6722). See you on the wild side!!

Local Fun Fact
Any idea what Campbell River's main landmark is? It's the Discovery Pier! Its claim to fame is holding the title of the world's first public fishing pier and the first saltwater fishing pier in Canada. The Pier stands 150ft out from shore and extends 600ft in length. It's a popular place for tourists to visit in order to try their hand at fishing, peering out at the spectacular view, or watching for wildlife in the Discovery Passage. It is frequented by many locals on any given day/evening as well.
