Hi, I am from the north island and have lived here my whole life.
This is my first season working with Discovery Marine Safaris. I previously worked as a naturalist for their sister company Stubbs Island Whale Watching. I love learning more about the amazing wildlife we have around here and being able to help people from all around the world share the experience.
When I'm not here I'm working on my degree in Biology at the University of Victoria.'
Hi, I am from Campbell River. In growing up on the island, I developed a love for the outdoors and an active lifestyle. I am currently a student- athlete pursuing a degree in secondary education at the University of Alberta.
I have worked the past two summers in the tourism industry, and this will be my first season working with Discovery Marine Safaris. I enjoy working in the tourism industry because it offers an opportunity to interact with new people and showcase what Campbell River and Vancouver Island has to offer.
As an owner of Discovery Marine Safaris I am hoping to have our guests from all over the world fall in love with the beauty of our pristine environment and the amazing wildlife. Our team's mission is to provide marine mammal education with the goal to encourage the protection of our precious oceans.
As of our tours: Having had 12 years of experience in the Marine Tourism industry I have a clear picture of what our visitors expect when they sign up for one of our safaris. I want our guests to really feel our dedication from the moment of your inquiries, your reservations, the check-in and then the actual tour. We have our hearts in what we are doing and our goal is to make this safari the highlight of your trip!
Seeing a whale or Grizzly on a photo is nice but seeing them out in the wild, listing or even smelling them in their natural habitat…. that’s an experience nobody can ever take away from you!!!!
Can't wait to see you!
I am passionate about travel and wildlife and feel extremely fortunate to be in a position where I can combine my marketing background, tourism industry experience, awe of our natural environment, its wildlife and my love of the ocean.
When I moved to the Island in 2001, it didn’t take long to recognize what a special place it was. Since then, it has been my goal to play an active role in promoting the destination and ensuring visitors have the opportunity to see and learn about our wildlife and local history while also enjoying other seasonal activities and scenic attractions in the area.
I was born and raised in beautiful Bavaria, Germany, where I studied the Art of Graphic Design. My passion has always been nature - and animals in particular. In 1993 I decided to pack my cat and suitcase and move to the land of my dreams.
At Discovery Marine Safaris I make sure we look great and that our customers can easily find us in a crowd when they search for a premier tour operator with ethics and the mission: Your Adventure is Our Passion!
Although I have moved permanently to Calgary to join the Calgary Fire Department, I am still keeping a close eye on Discovery Marine Safaris website and giving technical support to our team "thanks to Skype"!!
Being born in Berlin, Germany, I fell in love with the great Canadian out-doors as soon as I got here. Twenty one years later, and I still get as excited about seeing Orcas and Grizzlies as I did for my first time!! It’s this excitement that keeps me attached to the business.
My wife and I still visit Vancouver Island frequently. We had our dream wedding on "Tenacious III" on August 15th 2012 and therefore it will always be a special place for us.
Ollie is our best known team member; she joined our team just before Canada Day in 2010! She is a Resident Orca and loves to eat Salmon. Keep a look out for Ollie she roams the docks and boats, you might even see her downtown Campbell River!!
And by the way.....kids love to give Ollie a good whale hug!
